TNMX 44th Anniversary Race

It was a packed night at Portland International Raceways as the Thursday Night Motocross crew put on the 44th anniversary race. It was ladies night which ment that all the ladies got in free , and it felt good to have a night dedicated to us woman in such a man’s world!

Huge crowd at THMX

There was a crazy amount of pro riders (65) that tried to qualify for the main event. It took two heats and two LCQ’s to get to the main. In the first heat there was a big crash that made the flaggers red flag the race because some people were hurt and they needed to safly get them off the track. Unfortunatly Tevin Tapia was part of that group and some how ended up with no clutch lever.

Red flag crash

Austin Ulrich holeshoted the firts start and had an amazing come back to holeshot the second start after the red flag. The heats has some really close racing in a very compettetive field of pro’s. The main event went off the line at 9:30 pm and it started with a bang with Tyler Rhiel getting the holeshot but losing it by having a huge swap in the first turn. Jake Anstett rode a very impressive race holding first place for a majority of the moto. For not being back on the bike that long I was impressed. Nate Whitlow also had a strong ride. I never did get to look at the official reults but I believe he got a 5th which out of 65 pro’s is really great. He had a slide out in the last part of the moto which would take him off the podium but still had a respectful finish. Once Bobby Bonds took the lead he was gone and there was no catching him. His speed was very impressive and he is a fun rider to watch.  The night ended with Bobby Bonds, Jeff Alessi, and Daniel Blair on the podium. Bonds with a first, Alessi with a secound, and blair with a third.

Big pro jump

Rick and Ron Wylder put on yet another great anniversary race with some awsome Red Bull brooms for trophies which I thought was really cool. Crazy money got some good footage of the racing as well so make sure you keep checking them to get some footage.
