"PARALYZED MOTORCYCLE RACER NEVER GIVES UP"
 |
After years in a wheelchair and intensive rehabilitation, off-road motorcycle Champion Ramey "Coach" Stroud will return to the racetrack where he almost lost his life. Why? To fire up his bike once again and ride the last two laps left from his race years ago. To once again be a racer.
On November 7, 2007 at 4:00 pm -- four years to the night of his horrifying crash -- Coach will return to Salem Indoor Arena where he almost died. Told he would never walk again, Ramey worked six days a week to move a toe, then a foot. Now he walks with a cane-- like House on TV-- and Now it's time to ride!
Why would a man get back on a motorcycle after so much pain and suffering? Coach says, "to give others hope. Just because you are injured or ill is no reason to give up." Stroud, who is an off-road racing champion many times over, says, "Getting well is just like training for a big race like the Baja1000. You work hard for months to prepare, but there is no guarantee you will win-- or even finish. You just have to put in the effort, show up at the starting line-- and give it your best! Winning or walking again, takes the same
determination!" |
